Tinnitus Evaluation

Tinnitus is a condition in which a person hears a persistent sound that is not present in their environment.

Often described as a “ringing in the ears,” tinnitus can actually be experienced as any type of persistent sound, but most commonly is reported as a whirring, whooshing, buzzing, hissing, or whistling sound.

Many things can cause tinnitus, including head and neck injuries, some medications, exposure to loud sounds, eardrum perforation, and certain health conditions. Making matters more complex, many tinnitus cases have no clear cause at all.

Our Free Hearing Evaluation includes a screening for tinnitus symptoms, and any associated hearing loss. Roughly 90% of those dealing with tinnitus experience some degree of hearing loss, and hearing aids can offer many tinnitus sufferers some much-needed relief from the persistent noise, as well as improved hearing.

Living with tinnitus is difficult and impacts every aspect of one’s wellbeing and quality of life. While there is currently no definitive cure for tinnitus, there are various approaches to manage it and reduce its interference in everyday life.
