Free Hearing Evaluations

It’s estimated that nearly 30 million Americans would benefit from the use of a hearing aid, but unfortunately a far smaller number actually take the steps to get one. Hearing loss can be an isolating and depressing condition when left untreated, but luckily the solutions for hearing loss are better than ever, and there are now hearing aids available for all lifestyles and budgets. To determine if a hearing aid is necessary, a complete hearing evaluation is the first step.

Hearing tests are quick, painless, and easy to participate in. They help clarify the source of your hearing loss, its severity, and which solutions will meet your needs. At A&M Hearing Center, we recognize how important it is to take this initial step towards improving your hearing, so we offer complete hearing evaluations at no charge.

There’s no better time to grant yourself the gift of rich and clear hearing again!

Preparing for the Hearing Evaluation

Before your hearing tests are performed, you’ll be asked to complete a patient intake form. On it, we’ll ask you to recall any injuries, trauma, or exposure to loud noises in your history. We’ll also ask for your family medical history as well as your own, including any medications you may be currently taking.

You’re also more than welcome to bring in a loved one to the evaluation with you. Hearing loss affects more than just the patient, and Ann is happy to answer any questions that you or your family may have. Having support from a friend, partner, or family member can be helpful as you choose the best treatment option, and with the wealth of information that Ann shares, you both will learn a lot about hearing in the process!

During the Hearing Evaluation

Your complete hearing evaluation will take between 30-60 minutes. Before Ann begins the diagnostic testing, she will physically examine your ear to check for any obstructions or damage in the ear canal and ear drum. You’ll then be seated in a soundproof room with headphones and a combination of the following tests will be performed:

  • Air Conduction Testing
  • Bone Conduction Testing
  • Speech Testing.

After the Hearing Evaluation

Once the diagnostic tests are complete, your hearing ability will be recorded as a visual representation in an audiogram, and as a percentage for the speech recognition test. The audiogram displays the level of hearing loss you’re experiencing, and helps determine if your hearing needs treatment. Ann will review the results with you and answer any questions you may have.

If the hearing evaluation reveals that you’d benefit from a hearing aid, we have a full line of state-of-the art models available for every unique situation and every budget.
